The ingredients needed to make Veg Pongal:
  1. Prepare 2 cups rice
  2. Take 1 1/2 cup moong dal
  3. Prepare 4 green chillies
  4. Take 5 red chillies
  5. Make ready 2 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
  6. Take 3-4 pepper corn
  7. Make ready 3 tsp curry leaves
  8. Take pinch asafoetida
  9. Take 1 tbsp ghee
Instructions to make Veg Pongal:
  1. Take pressure cooker add little ghee and add moong dal and fry for some time till you get the nice aroma. Then add rice and water and salt and pressure cook for 3 whistles and simmer for few minutes and off the stove.
  2. Take ghee in kadai and add all ing and saute once cashews change colour add everything to the rice and moong dal mixture and mix well. If you want you can add another spoon of ghee. Main taste comes from ghee.
  3. After mixing take to a serving bowl and serve with coconut chutney or sambar.
