The ingredients needed to make Coconut Burfi:
  1. Make ready 200 grams Desiccated coconut
  2. Take 200 grams mawa or khoya
  3. Make ready 200 grams sugar
  4. Get 1 tbsp Chopped dry fruits
  5. Get 100 ml water

Coconut Burfi or Nariyal barfi or Coconut Fudge or Kopra Pak is a very tasty and famous Indian dessert made of freshly grated coconut, milk, and sugar. It is one of the most commonly made sweet during Diwali, Holi, Karwa Chauth, Raksha Bandhan, Navaratri, or other Indian festivals and special occasions. Take a wide pan and add in the milk, sugar and fresh shredded coconut.

Instructions to make Coconut Burfi:
  1. Roast coconut for 2 minutes.
  2. Roast mawa for 2 minutes.
  3. Prepare sugar syrup, add 200 gms sugar in a pan along with100 ml of water. Cook till 2 strings appear in sugar syrup. Turn off the flame.
  4. Add mawa into sugar syrup and mix well, add coconut and mix it again.
  5. Now Greace a plate with ghee. Pour burfi mixture into plate and set by tapping plate.
  6. Let the burfi rest for an hour. Cut into pieces and garnish with chopped dryfruits.

Keep the pan on stove and start stirring on medium flame. If the milk boils over, try to reduce the flame to low for a couple of minutes and increase the flame again. The coconut burfi had a melt in the mouth soft texture. You can also make coconut ladoos with the same mixture. Usually at home, for Raksha Bandhan we always make Rice kheer or Vermicelli kheer. this time for a change I made the coconut burfi today and also clicked the pics.
