Dry chana is a delicious stir fried dish made with chickpeas, spices & herbs. It goes very well with rice or chapathi. I usually make this delicious Restaurant style chana masala which is our family favorite. But when I am short of time, this dry chana comes to my rescue.

  1. Prepare 1 cup soaked & boiled chickpea
  2. Prepare 1 tbsp butter

It is healthy and very easy to make. Freshly ground chole masala - For making this Punjabi chole recipe, whole spices are dry roasted and ground into the powder. This spice powder recipe is adapted from a cookbook ' The Dhabas Of Amritsar '. It gives very aromatic flavors to the dish.

Steps to make Dry Chole:
  1. Heat a pan add butter then add cumin seed & chilli
  2. Add chole (chickpeas) & all the spices
  3. Mix well grate some ginger.. add coriander leaves and mix…
  4. Serve hot as a tea time snack, starter or side dish
  5. Soak chickpeas for 7/8 hrs then pressure cook for 4/5 whistles *

This spice powder recipe is adapted from a cookbook ' The Dhabas Of Amritsar '. It gives very aromatic flavors to the dish. If in rush, you can use store-bought chole masala. Dry roast the ingredients for Chole masala until they are slightly browned and fragrant. Remove the pan from heat and let the ingredients cool.
