  1. Add your oil to a large saucepan and begin to heat up. Meanwhile in a large bowl mix together the flour, cornflour, salt, MSG and spices. Add the baking powder. Mix again.
  2. Add the beer/sparkling water little by little whilst stirring the batter. Continue to add beer/sparkling water until the batter coats but runs off easily off a metal spoon. It shouldn't be thick or gloopy but quite thin and smooth.
  3. Take each vegetable in batches and dredge until lightly coated in the batter. Fry in batches for a couple of minutes each side until lovely and crisp. Lay out on kitchen towel to remove the excess oil. Serve up with your choice of dip(s).
