I got the recipe from my husband's mother. She is French so I believe this is a French Meat Pie. Beef, pork, and potato are all nicely spiced and baked into a pie.

- Make ready 1 /cup of flour
- Get 1 tablespoon baking powder

When pork is cooked remove fat from pan. The pie came out tasting almost exactly like the ones we used to make! I added a pinch more salt and a little allspice to the recipe, also a teaspoon of poultry seasoning along with the sage that this recipe called for. I have saved this recipe and will continue the old tradition of meat pies for Thanksgiving and New Years Eve.
Steps to make Meat pie:
- In a dry clean bowl, pour your flour
- Add in your baking powder
- Add your salt and mix wit your spatula to mix together
- Add in your cooking oil preferably coz it makes it less crunchy compared to butter, mix well
- Finally add your water mix it all up. Cover it up with your plastic wrap and set aside to like half an hour
- For your filling, pour out your minced meat into a pan,
- Add a lil water + your seasoning and your diced onion
- Cook for a few minutes and set aside.
- In a clean pot, pour in your diced potato and boil until semi- cooked or half cooked then add in your diced carrot and drain after a minute or two.
- Mix your potato, carrot and minced meat together and set aside.
- Now cut your dough into small pieces and use your rolling pin to spread it out on a flat surface.
- To make it into a nice shape use your pie shaper or a round lid to make it edges equal
- Put in your already made minced meat into your already flattened out dough. Repeat the same for the rest.
- Then, in your clean oven pan, lay it out with your baking paper to avoid sticking.
- Arrange your meat pie and use an eggwash with your brush to coat the top of your pie and use a fork to atleast make a hole on your pie to avoid crackling.
- Bake at 150-200 degree/celsius using both the upper and lower bonnet.
- It will take about 30-40 minutes. And voila💥 your meat pie is ready for serving.
