Churma is a sweet dish made by coarsely grinding deep fried whole wheat flour dumplings along with sugar.

- Make ready 1 1/2 cup wheat flour
- Make ready 1/2 cup fine semolina
- Take 3 tablespoons oil
- Take 1/2 cup water
- Prepare 11/4 cup ghee or less

- Make ready 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- Take 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- Take 1/2 cup caster sugar
- Make ready 1 cup mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios and cashews)
- Prepare 1 tsp Poppy seeds for garnishing
Then sugar is added to it. Pistachio pieces are also mixed in this mixture optionally. Churma Ladoo is a famous festive sweet recipe of Gujarati cuisine. This recipe is also a traditional sweet delight of Rajasthani cuisine as well.
Instructions to make Churma ladoo:
- In a large mixing bowl add the wheat flour and semolina and mix well. Make a well in the middle and add oil and warm water and combine all to a binding consistency dough. Take a lemon size ball in your palm and and press it by making a fist. Press hard and make muthiya.
- In a frying pan add oil and let it heat on medium flame. Deep fry the muthia until golden brown. Remove from oil and let them cool. Fry the almonds, pistachios and cashewnuts.
- Crumble the cooled down muthias and grind them in a food processor resembling bread crumbs.
- Add sugar, nutmeg, cardamom and saffron and mix well. Make a well in the middle and add warm ghee and mix well. - Make churma ladoo by pressing in your palm making spherical balls or use mould.
- Apply some poppy seeds and garnish the churma ladoo. - Churma ladoo is ready to serve.
This sweet is made from wheat flour as the main ingredient. It also contains a whole lot of dry fruits too and is full of ghee. The best part is the ladoos taste sweet due to jaggery instead of sugar. Churma ladoo is a festival sweet famous in Gujarat. This ladoo is served at "Ganesh Chaturthi" festival of lord Ganesha.
